Welcome to the Family Enterprise Day registration page !

What are some of the questions to be discussed at this unique event?

How do you develop professional next generation family members? What are the critical skills of professional family business leaders? Can entrepreneurship be taught? How do business families institutionalize professionalism? What are action steps that all family firms can take to improve their professional performance?

It is a broadly accepted fact that less than 30% of family businesses survive the first generation, 10-15% survive the second generation and less than 5% survive beyond the third generation. So, how do those family businesses that survive make it?

One of the critical success factors in family businesses is professionalizing the next generation of owners, leaders and directors. Leaders are not born they are developed because of meaningful education and work experiences. The successful family business member has learned leadership attitudes and behaviours that support constructive relationships and meaningful careers. The next generation member’s first school is the family and business they grow up in, the family ‘s values - should shape how the next generation members see their careers, leadership responsibilities and opportunities. Business schools, executive education programmes, coaching and mentoring, and outside work experiences can all be important contributors to developing the next generation’s full potential and talents.

On Saturday 9 June 2018, a panel of leading experts and practitioners from the business community and academia will open the floor to a discussion of the lessons to be learned from this.

The event is designed for members of family businesses and INSEAD students.

Third parties who are directly involved in providing services to family enterprises are also welcome, but they should be accompanied by a member of a family business to ensure an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality.

Should you be from a service-provision company and interested in family firms, please feel free to contact us at family-firms.fb@insead.edu.

We welcome all registered participants for what promises to be a wonderful and impactful half-day of learning and exchange!
